The month of February brought us project wins, topping out parties, enough snow to last a lifetime, and team building activities throughout each of our regions for Heart Month. Over the last several weeks, our teams across all offices came together with a shared focus on supporting heart health - both inside and outside the workplace. February was a powerful reminder that caring for our hearts is something we can all take part in.
One of the highlights of the month was hosting CPR and First Aid trainings at each of our office locations. While several members of our field teams are already certified, we wanted to extend the opportunity to our office teams and empower them with the skills to step in during an emergency. Kate O’Hara, our National Safety Director, shared, “Knowing CPR and First Aid means being ready when it matters most. We believe providing this training empowers our team members, especially parents, to protect not only their coworkers, but the people they love most at home.”
Team members learned, and in some cases refreshed, the fundamentals of CPR and First Aid, for both adults and children, gaining hands-on experience and confidence that could one day make all the difference. Investing in this kind of training reflects our commitment not just to our projects, but to the people who make them possible.

We also proudly participated in National Wear Red Day in support of women’s heart health, an initiative of the American Heart Association. Seeing our offices filled with red was more than just a colorful show of solidarity - it was a visual reminder that heart disease remains the leading cause of death for women, and awareness matters.

Beyond the month’s activities, we’re especially proud of our company’s involvement in Hard Hats with Heart, a campaign of the American Heart Association that focuses specifically on improving heart health within the construction industry. Roughly 1 in 25 construction professionals are diagnosed with cardiovascular disease due to long hours, lack of exercise, and high stress. Hard Hats provides education and training for companies so that their employees are equipped with the tools they need to live a long, healthy, balanced lifestyle. Their leadership and involvement reinforce our belief that building stronger communities starts with building healthier ones.
Brad Richardson, EVP and Market Manager, sits on the board of Richmond’s chapter of Hard Hats. In 2025, with the support and generosity of several of our industry partners and customers, he helped raise $25,000 for the Hard Hats annual fundraising event. The Central Virginia chapter alone raised $3.2M last year, with the entire American Heart Association raising $1.3B. When asked about his involvement with the organization, he said, “We started working with Hard Hats With hard hats in 2023. For Rock Spring, it has evolved well beyond just working with great team to raise awareness and support for the American Heart Association. As we have gotten more involved, Hard Hats with Heart has brought heart heath and heart safety to top of mind in our everyday approach and training.” Our South Carolina team is also heavily involved in the Charleston Chapter of Hard Hats, participating annually in the region’s Heart Walk and additional Hard Hats events throughout the year.
As we look back on February, we’re proud of the enthusiasm and engagement across our company. Heart Month may come once a year, but the habits, awareness, and commitment to wellness we strengthened this February will carry forward. Here’s to continuing to look out for one another - on the jobsite, in the office, and beyond.
