Rock Spring's Foreman Leadership Program

 This paid, year-long program is designed to turn motivated individuals into confident field leaders through hands-on jobsite experience and structured training across multiple departments. 

One-of-a-Kind Comprehensive Training Program

The Building Future Leaders Trainee program is a comprehensive paid training program designed to cultivate strong candidates for careers in construction field management.  This program offers a well-rounded curriculum that combines hands-on field experience with rotations through key departments. It focuses on training candidates in the “Rock Spring way,” including focusing on our client-oriented and team approach to providing our services and will provide candidates with the opportunity to join a rapidly growing commercial construction company with offices currently in Maryland, Virginia, South Carolina, Georgia, and North Carolina. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Field Experience: Trainees will be matched with an experienced foreman to gain practical knowledge of construction processes and on-site operations by spending considerable time in the field on the construction sites.

  • Departmental Rotations: Trainees will spend time in the following departments:

  • Estimating: Learn the basics of quantities, takeoff logic, and labor factors

  • Project Management: Develop skills in accurate paperwork, scheduling, sequencing, trade handoffs, substantial completion, punch list, turnover and O&M

  • Purchasing: Understand POs, lead times, submittals and storage management

  • Financial Basics: Gain insights on budget vs actuals, cost drivers, and productivity tracking

  • Safety Foundations & Leadership: OSHA basics, hazard ID, toolbox talks, and incident response

  • Reading Drawings & Layout Basics: Plans, details, specs and tolerance recognition

  • Communication & Jobsite English: Clear communication, RFIs, radio etiquette, and conflict framing

  • Digital Navigation-Modern Tools for Modern Projects: Digital platforms to access drawings, RFIs, and job documents

  • Coaching Crews & Conflict Resolution: Feedback, standards, and documentation

  • Upon successful completion of the program, trainees will have the opportunity to be named an entry-level field leader

Qualifications

  • High School degree

  • Strong interest in pursuing a career in field construction management

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills in English and Spanish

  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment

  • Adaptability and willingness to learn various aspects of the construction business

  • Problem-solving skills and attention to detail

  • Proficiency in computer applications, including Microsoft Office suite

  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel to various job sites

  • Interest in gaining hands-on experience across multiple departments

  • Commitment to completing the full year-long program and pursuing a long-term career with Rock Spring Contracting, LLC

Physical & Environmental Requirements

  • Prolonged periods standing, climbing ladders, bending and kneeling

  • Must be able to lift materials and tools up to 50 lbs

  • Loading and unloading materials and equipment

  • Assisting skilled tradespeople in their duties

  • Following instructions from supervisors and implementing construction plans
